Thermal curtains
are a great way to dress up any type of window. They are
perfect for keeping room temperatures consistent while adding
colour and the softness of fabric to a given space. Thermal
curtains can also be made into different patterns and styles
best suited to the room and the window. This includes thermal
window curtains and thermal drapes alike.
Different Styles for Thermal Window Curtains
If
you like the charming look of a café window
coverings for you kitchen, but need to do something about
that draft, then a thermal curtains are the solution. The
thermal backings of today’s thermal curtains are
so thin and efficient that they can be fashioned into
some of the more delicate styles. Because the backing
is separate from the decorative fabric, you can still
choose just about any style and colour for your curtains
or draperies.
Other thermal window curtains that can be used in any
room of the house are:
- Draperies – These
can be in any length: shorter for a more casual look,
of pooling on the floor for a formal statement.
- Roman
Shades – These are somewhere
between shades and curtains. They can be made of any
fabric and lined with thermal fabric for extremely
good insulation.
- Balloon
Shades—Again, when lowered
balloon shades have a soft look that completely covers
the window and can be made with thermal backing. When
raised, they have the distinctive ballooning effect
of the fabrics.
Hanging Thermal Drapes
Thermal
curtains and drapes are hung like any other window treatment.
If you are using a drape, then an appropriate decorative
rod can be used. If it is a café style
curtain, then a pressure rod or small pole that attaches
to the wood frame on either side of the window can
be used. The way you would hang a thermal version
of the window treatment might only differ because of
the weight of the combined fabrics. It may be necessary
to use dry wall anchors or other reinforcements if
there is a great deal of weight to the thermal curtains.
