Bathroom
curtains may be one of the last things you think about when
decorating. However, they can really make a boring bathroom
a conversation piece and tie together the entire bathroom
look. Window coverings for the bathroom don’t have to take a backseat to the
rest of the décor. Bathroom curtains can lead the
overall decorating plan.
How to Start with Bathroom Window Curtains
If you find a fabric or bathroom curtains that you really
like, that that be the place you start in your bathroom
design. You may be stuck with outdated tile and fixtures
and not have the budget to replace them, so let the fabrics
in the room help minimize their visual impact. Bathroom
accessories: shower curtains, hardware, linens, etc. can
all take part in the cover-up too.
Once
you have selected bathroom curtains you like, find a
coordinating shower curtain. This doesn’t need
to be an exact match, but contain complimentary colours
and patterns. Now that you have the window coverings
and shower curtains selected, it is time to accessorize.
Adding the Special Decorative Touches with Bathroom Accessories
Just
like a plain wardrobe becomes special with the right
finishing touches, so does a bathroom’s design. You
can add this “jewellery” in many forms. First
start with the bathroom curtains. Tie backs with coordinating
buttons, hardware or rods with creative finials, or stencils
window shades are all ways to accessorize bathroom window
curtains.
Next is the shower curtain. The clips or rings used to
attach the curtain to the rod are an ideal spot to dress
up. Ribbon covered rings will make the curtain more romantic.
Towel
rods or rings can simply hold plain towels or add to
the decoration. Laying towels of different colours adds
interest and texture. The hardware itself can be embellished
with an architectural moulding behind the mounted rod
to give it more substance and depth. That is an especially
charming feature in an older
lodge curtains or Victorian
style bathroom.
Finally,
don’t forget the surfaces. A vanity top
can hold a basket with coordinating linens or soaps
or other toiletries. These can all blend with the draperies
or bathroom curtains.
